The client wanted a closet that reflected her own style, without being limited to standard catalogue finishes. We chose a deep, saturated red for the fronts, with classic mouldings and square copper-toned handles. The layout includes a central island with a four-drawer unit and glass top, two matching side chests, an upholstered bench to match, and a run of open, illuminated shelving for displaying shoes and accessories. Every element was lacquered in our workshop in the same tone, achieving a colour consistency that's impossible to reach when pieces come from different suppliers.

Reproducing such a saturated red, and keeping it identical across large and small surfaces — from the wardrobe doors to the island drawers and the shelving frame — is one of the most demanding parts of lacquering. The smallest tone variation between separately produced pieces shows immediately in a colour this intense. Because lacquering happens entirely in our own plant, we mix and apply the colour under the same process control for every piece, guaranteeing the tone doesn't shift between the first item of furniture and the last — something we couldn't guarantee if the colour work were subcontracted.
